Haruo Goto

Born in Ichinomiya, Haruo Goto began ballet training at his parents' ballet school and joined The Tokyo Ballet in 1991.

In his second year in the company, Mr. Goto was chosen for the 'étoile' of the 1st Movement in "LE PALAIS DE CRISTAL", which he performed on the European tour in the summer of 1992. For the Russian tour in autumn of the same year, he was chosen for 'Yuranosuke' in Béjart's "THE KABUKI", and made his leading-role debut at the prestigious stage of Maryinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg at the age of 19.

His other main roles include 'Siegfried' in "SWAN LAKE", 'Basilio' and 'Espada' in "DON QUIXOTE", 'Blue Bird' in "SLEEPING BEAUTY," 'Peasant pas de deux' in "GISELLE ," 'soloist' in Balanchine's "THEME AND VARIATIONS," 'Nutcracker Prince' in "THE NUTCRACKER," 'Mazurka' and 'Adage' in Lifar's "SUITE EN BLANC", 'Étoile' in "PAQUITA" and "ETUDES" as well as many leading roles in Béjart's ballets, including 'melody' in "BOLÉRO," 'Le jeune homme' in "PETROUCHKA", 'Le chef des truands' in "LE MANDARIN MERVERILLEUX", and 'Shiva' in "Bhakti III".

He has also danced 'Deux chefs' in "LE SACRE DU PRINTEMPS", 'Partisan' and 'Phoenix' in "L'OISEAU DE FEU", 'Deux Anges' in "CASSE-NOISETTE," and "DANSES GRECQUES" all by Béjart, in Kylián's "STEPPING STONES" and "SYMPHONY IN D", 'Zuniga' in Alberto Alonso's "CARMEN SUITE", Neumeier's "SPRING AND FALL" and "SEASONS- THE COLORS OF TIME," 'Rothbart', 'Pas de trois,' and 'Spanish Dance' in "SWAN LAKE", 'Four princes' in "THE SLEEPING BEAUTY" and 'Pas de deux' in Lacotte's "LA SYLPHIDE."

Mr. Goto created one of Mishima's four alter-egos 'II-ni' Béjart's "M" in 1993. In 2005, he danced the role of 'Oberon' in the Tokyo Ballet premiere of "THE DREAM," and in 2006, he danced 'Rudolf' in Lacotte's "LA FILLE DU DANUBE." In 2007, he was invited to dance "BHAKTI III" at Teatro Municipal de Santiago's 150 year anniversary Gala.
